Are you hosting Thanksgiving this year? I’m not! But, if I were, I’d be looking to some of these amazing images for inspiration…

Our Save the Dates

It’s Wedding Wednesday, guys! Yay! With our wedding approaching (in just 38 days!), I am getting oh-so excited about the cool evenings and hint of changing leaves around us. I thought I’d share our save the dates, which we sent out last winter (though it feels as though it was just a few weeks ago!)

While I designed our invitations (and the rest of our day-of paper) myself, I used the great resource Wedding Paper Divas to create our save the dates online. I love how simple it is to use this site to customize your announcement/card/whatever with the help of Wedding Paper Divas’ vast collection of beautiful designs.

Seriously, they have SO much to choose from. When we chose our Save the Dates, it was still pretty early in our planning process. I had not yet decided on exactly how our invitations would look, or even exactly what our colors/overall look would be. (Which, let me tell you, was  ever-morphing). We obviously knew our wedding date and location, and knew that our autumn date would allow me to go crazy with pumpkins & fall colors. With that in mind, we arranged to have a few photos taken by FH’s brother- who has some serious photography skills & a great eye (our real “engagement” photo session took place later, on the beach).

Fully embracing our fall & pumpkin-y theme, I found the Etsy shop Wiggles & Giggles, and fell in love with the super fun look of Katherine’s monogrammed pumpkins. I convo-ed her and asked if she would be willing to custom design some pumpkins for our save the dates. She was, and the result was absolutely perfect.

I loved the way the pumpkins looked in our photos (and I love our cute little Australian Terrier Emma, too!)

I loved how the pumpkins were a little hint of our fall wedding.

Once we had these three awesome photos, I went to Wedding Paper Divas and designed our card using their design called “Proper Frame.”

I found the design process to be super easy, the prices to be very reasonable, shipping fast, and the overall product to be perfect!

Pottery Barn Inspired Faux Mercury Glass Pumpkin

So Pottery Barn has these gorgeous antiqued mercury glass pumpkins available this fall, and I’m obsessed. This week, I experimented with DIYing my own faux mercury glass, thanks to Martha Stewart’s super easy technique using just water & Looking Glass Spray Paint. I also happened to spot this inexpensive glass pumpkin cookie jar on the “decor” shelves at my local CVS (who knew?)… and inspiration struck!

Yup- you guessed it- I spritzed & sprayed that piece up!

In case you missed yesterday’s post, this DIY is super easy. Just spritz the inside of your glass vase/pumpkin/whatever using a water spray bottle, then lightly coat the inside with Krylon Looking Glass Mirror Spray Paint, and dry upside down (using a baking rack or some ventilated-upside down-drying-method, like my rolled up magazine pages).

I still might go at this baby with some vinegar, which apparently can be used to rough-up that finish for a more authentic mercury glass look. But I set him up with some artificial pumpkins I got on sale at Michael’s, and am totally digging the first touches of fall decor in my home!

I won’t really be able to utilize the cookie-jar-ness of this pumpkin, because it is not safe to store food in one of these DIYed, spray-painted glass items. I certainly do not need any excuse to keep cookies in the house, though, so it’s all good!

Happy Friday, everyone!

Fall Finds

The beginning of Fall is only 23 days away, can you believe it? Signs outside of Dunkin’ Donuts announcing the arrival of hot apple cider (but no pumpkin yet, I’m counting down the days), as well as fall displays in every retail store are happily proclaiming the imminent approach of that favorite season of FALL!

I may or may not be slightly MORE excited for fall this year, because it is soon to be my wedding anniversary season. 🙂

Here are some of my current favorite fall decor items I would be buying, if I weren’t getting married in *less* than two months.

Monday Motivation

Hi friends! Today is the last week of summer vacation for me. Boo. While I am already aching for the summer days of sun & surf that so quickly slipped away, I am SO excited for everything that Fall will be bringing this year! Here’s what is keeping me motivated for the week!

For Fall Decorating ~ I’ve been ‘collecting’ a variety of lovely artificial pumpkins to incorporate in our fall wedding decor. I’m obsessed with these Mercury Glass Pumpkins from Pottery Barn, and therefore did a little jump for joy when I found replicas of these at T. J. Maxx for $4.99 each! SCORE!

For a Refresher with Benefits ~ This summer, I was obsessed with putting slices of lemon in my water. I’ve really been trying to cut down on my diet coke intake, and the flavor of lemon in my ice water makes it so much more pleasant to sip on throughout the afternoon. Now I’ll be trying out this lemon, mint and cucumber infused water (image & information from A Sweet Simple Life) which apparently comes with the added benefit of helping flush your system of nasty toxins. Bonus!

For Fall Cooking with a Crock Pot ~ I received a slow cooker at my Jersey-based bridal shower (yes, I am totally lucky and getting showered TWICE, and yes, I will be sharing all the lovely details this week!) I’m excited to try some of these delicious looking recipes from writer Ashley Hackshaw on Babble (via Amy on Pinterest).

For a Sweet Flower Girl Gift ~ Our flower girl is our dog, Emma. I won’t waste my money giving her this, as she would surely just try to eat it. If I had a human flower girl, though, I think this handkerchief from Wedding Chicks is just precious.

Hope you have a wonderful week! ❤

Monday Motivation!

Happy Monday everyone! Here’s what I’m digging this week!

For a Peaceful Retreat~ I’m totally in love with this Organic Charlie Paisley Duvet cover from Pottery Barn. Completely inspiring for an entire bedroom makeover!

For DIY Motivation~ I would love to recreate this DIY Crate Coffee Table from DIY Vintage Chic. So cool & functional at the same time!

For a Fall Pumpkin Project ~ I love this simple monogrammed pumpkin from All in a Day using thumbtacks!

For My Next Trip~ I am so into Scotland lately, and dying to go there. I love old castles & am dying to see Edinburgh Castle, among others! (Image Source)

For A Smile~ Have a fabulous week, everyone! (Image Source)
